Faston Slip Rings

Faston slip rings are components for the transmission of electrical power for dynamic components. They are characterised by a compact design and particularly simple assembly. This makes them the ideal slip rings for tight installation space and serially manufactured products. Soldering or clamping is completely unnecessary with these slip rings and is replaced by simple plug-in connections. The Faston slip rings fit both standard flat plug connections and ready-made multiple plugs.

Flat terminals stator

The cable connections on the stator side are designed as spade terminals directly on the housing. This enables fast cabling and reduces downtime in the event of service. We would be happy to advise you on the various options in this area.

Robust thermoplastic housing

The housing of our Faston slip rings is made of thermoplastic. This material is not only incredibly light, but also very robust and temperature-resistant. We would be happy to send you further information on the materials used.

Flat plug connections Rotor

The cable connections on the rotor side are also designed as flat plug connections directly on the housing. Here, too, this significantly reduces the assembly effort.

Structure Faston Slip Rings

Faston slip rings consist of a rotating inner ring and an outer housing with brush contacts. The inner ring and outer housing can be rotated relative to each other. In contrast to other designs, the contacts do not end in open leads but in permanently installed standard flat tabs. Both housing parts are made of impact-resistant plastic. The minimum protection class is IP 51, which makes them insensitive to penetrating dust, dew and splash water. Higher protection classes are available on request or are manufactured to customer specifications. Faston slip rings are very compact, light and inexpensive. They are ideal for low-voltage applications, but can also transmit operating voltages of up to 380 volts permanently and reliably if required. Faston slip rings are ideally used in environments with pre-assembled connectors. However, their standard plug-in tongues make them just as suitable for individual pieces or prototypes. Their particular advantage is their fast connection without tools.

Use Faston slip rings

Faston slip rings are small, compact, light and easy to install. They are therefore particularly popular in series products. Faston slip rings have proven themselves particularly well in drone and RC model aircraft construction. They are suitable for high speeds on rotors and propellers as well as for precise control of camera gimbals or airframe control. If a Faston slip ring needs to be replaced, it can be done in a few easy steps.

Advantages Faston Slip Rings

A Faston slip ring offers the following advantages to its users:

  • Low unit price
  • Reliable transmission of control and power currents
  • Easy installation and replacement
  • Protection class at least IP 51 or higher
  • Low weight
  • Pierce resistant
  • Shielded against noise

These advantages make Faston slip rings the ideal product for applications where installation is prepared on site. They can be installed in a few simple steps even with loose cable connections and can be replaced if necessary. The IP51 protection class is sufficient for most applications. The low weight helps to keep the overall weight of the end product as low as possible. This makes Faston slip rings ideal for vehicles and aircraft. With a sufficiently rated dielectric strength, the Faston slip rings can also be used safely for high currents of up to 380 volts.

Product variety Faston Slip Rings

We offer Faston slip rings in a selection that covers practically all sensible applications. With up to 6 rings for the transmission of power current and 2 rings for the transmission of signals, the slip rings are adequately equipped. Up to 25 amperes can be transmitted per ring. The maximum working voltage is a full 380 volts for both direct current and alternating current. Overall, each slip ring is voltage-resistant up to 500 volts, but can also withstand voltage peaks up to 1000 volts. With a maximum resistance value of
35 milliohm. The insulation resistance of 1000 milliohm at 500 volts DC is also quite sufficient for most applications.

The Faston slip rings allow continuous or alternating rotation of up to 300 revolutions per minute. The standard contact material used in Faston slip rings is silver.

The housing is made entirely of plastic. This ensures low weight and good insulating properties. With protection class IP 51, Faston slip rings are well equipped for most installation situations. Higher degrees of protection are also available on request. Each Faston slip ring body performs reliably in the temperature range from – 20 °C to +60 °C. If you have a need for Faston slip rings that work reliably outside this temperature range, please contact us. We will find the right slip ring for every application.35 milliohm. The insulation resistance of 1000 milliohm at 500 volts DC is also perfectly adequate for most applications.

Use of encapsulated slip rings

These components are designed to establish a reliable electrical connection between a stationary and a rotating component. For this purpose, our encapsulated miniature slip rings always offer maximum operational safety at low cost. By using the encapsulated miniature slip rings, you obtain an excellent safety reserve for unforeseen malfunctions even in seemingly uncritical environments. Our encapsulated miniature slip rings are thus an extremely cost-effective contribution to increasing the operational safety of your systems. In particularly demanding applications, such as aviation, aerospace or the handling of chemicals, the encapsulated slip rings make a significant contribution to overall operational safety. Reliability, robustness and power reserves characterise each of our components.

Use of Faston slip rings

Faston slip rings are easy to install using “plug and play”. No tools are required for their installation if you have equipped your cable with the appropriate cable lug. Correctly installed, with the Faston slip ring you have a product that you can fully rely on for a long time. The slip ring bodies of the Faston series are also completely maintenance-free.
