Faston Slip Rings

Faston slip rings are components for the transmission of electrical power for dynamic components. They are characterised by a compact design and particularly simple assembly. This makes them the ideal slip rings for tight installation space and serially manufactured products. Soldering or clamping is completely unnecessary with these slip rings and is replaced by simple plug-in connections. The Faston slip rings fit both standard flat plug connections and ready-made multiple plugs.

Structure Faston Slip Rings

Faston slip rings consist of a rotating inner ring and an outer housing with brush contacts. The inner ring and outer housing can be rotated relative to each other. In contrast to other designs, the contacts do not end in open leads but in permanently installed standard flat tabs. Both housing parts are made of impact-resistant plastic. The minimum protection class is IP 51, which makes them insensitive to penetrating dust, dew and splash water. Higher protection classes are available on request or are manufactured to customer specifications. Faston slip rings are very compact, light and inexpensive. They are ideal for low-voltage applications, but can also transmit operating voltages of up to 380 volts permanently and reliably if required. Faston slip rings are ideally used in environments with pre-assembled connectors. However, their standard plug-in tongues make them just as suitable for individual pieces or prototypes. Their particular advantage is their fast connection without tools.

Faston slip rings are small, compact, light and easy to install. They are therefore particularly popular in series products. Faston slip rings have proven themselves particularly well in drone and RC model aircraft construction. They are suitable for high speeds on rotors and propellers as well as for precise control of camera gimbals or airframe control. If a Faston slip ring needs to be replaced, it can be done in a few easy steps.

The low weight helps to keep the total weight of the end product as low as possible. This makes Faston slip rings ideal for vehicles and aircraft. With a sufficiently rated dielectric strength, Faston slip rings can also be used safely for high currents up to 380 volts.

Product variety Faston Slip Rings

We offer Faston slip rings in a range that covers practically all useful applications. With up to 6 rings for power transmission and 2 rings for signal transmission, the slip rings are adequately equipped. Up to 25 amps can be transmitted per ring. The maximum operating voltage is 380 volts for both direct current and alternating current. Overall, each slip ring is voltage-resistant up to 500 volts, but can also withstand voltage peaks of up to 1000 volts. The maximum resistance value is
35 milliohms. The insulation resistance of 1000 milliohms at 500 volts DC is also completely sufficient for most applications.

Faston slip rings enable continuous or alternating rotation of up to 300 revolutions per minute. Silver is used as the standard contact material in Faston slip rings. The housing is made entirely of plastic. This ensures low weight and good insulating properties. With protection class IP 51, Faston slip rings are well equipped for most installation situations. Higher protection classes are also available on request. Every Faston slip ring body performs reliably in a temperature range from – 20 °C to +60 °C.
